I will say, whenever you talk about flag time and mechanics, keep in mind that usually the time your billed for at the shop is the same amount the tech makes, however what they charge for labor doesnt entirely go to the tech. A shop might charge you 60-100 dollars an hour in labor and the tech might only make 25-30 of it. More if their on full flag rather than hourly. Point is a lot of the money you are over charged for is from the shop, not the mechanic. The tech prioritizes getting an hour long shop done in say 20 minutes so he can make enough to live off of. Once you move over to full flag if you arent working you arent making money. You can work for 10 hours and make nothing if you dont get work. The shop however will always profit.

1. Plugs and coils: Lots of fake ones on Ebay and even Amazon. They look very legit but will start misfiring weeks to months later. I know from experience! If an OEM coil costs $90 at the dealer and you find one on Ebay for $10 or even better $60 for the whole set….there’s your sign!
